Basically they are all circular wind storms, the only difference is the term used related to the location where the storm occurs.
Hurricane - forms over water in the Atlantic and Northeast Pacific
Typhoon - forms over water in the Northwest Pacific
Cyclone - forms over water in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean
Tornado - forms over land and are much smaller in size
NASA uses CYGNSS (Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System) for Hurricane forecasting and other weather events.
